17th July 2020

Hello Everyone

This email is to let you know what the arrangements will be for worship at St Mary’s Woburn over the coming weeks.

After last weeks successful resumption of Worship in Church we will continue with a 10.30am Service each Sunday. Please read the notes at the bottom of this email before considering attending a Service.  The Services will alternate between a formal and informal Holy Communion.

Formal Holy Communion will be led from the Chancel. It will be a Service that follows the Holy Communion liturgy we use at our 9am Services.

Informal Holy Communion will be led from the bottom of the Chancel steps. The liturgy will be on a screen. The Service will have space for testimony and prayer. In style it will reflect the 10.30 Service of the Word.

Neither Service can have congregational sung worship at present.

This coming Sunday (19th July) will be an Informal Holy Communion Service

26th July         Formal Holy Communion
2nd August      Informal Holy Communion
9th August       Formal Holy Communion
16th August     Informal Holy Communion
23rd August     Formal Holy Communion
30th August     Formal Holy Communion

NOTES for consideration before attending Sunday Worship at St Mary’s Woburn

Health considerations

For NHS information about those groups of people most venerable to Covid 19,

Arrival at Church

Please arrive in good time for the Service as details of all those attending must be recorded.

We will be observing two metre social distancing

Please observe this distance both on the church drive and inside the church.  On entering church please cleanse your hands with the sanitiser available at the entrance.  A member of the welcome team will register your presence at the service. If you are on the Electoral Roll of St Mary’s you will be registered against that list.  Everyone else will need to provide their name and address and contact phone number.

Face coverings

In line with Church of England rules face coverings must be worn by all attending the service unless they are officiating or reading a lesson or prayers.

The Service

The Service will be a simple spoken Holy Communion service. There will be readings, prayers and a sermon. Those who wish to receive Communion can come forward socially distanced at two metres to receive a communion bread from me at the bottom of the chancel steps. Please wait for the sidesmen to invite you to leave your pew. On arrival at the chancel steps I will place a wafer into your cupped hands without physical contact and with no words spoken.  Communion will be received in one kind only, i.e the bread. Once you have received Communion you will be directed to return to you pew via the south aisle.  Sung worship is sadly not permitted. The service will be approximately 40 minutes in length.

Those who do not make their offering by standing order can use the envelopes in the pews as normal and place them in the collection box placed by the door at the end of the Service. Please ensure you complete your details on the envelope in order that your offering can be gift aided.

After the Service

We are not permitted to serve refreshments after the Service. Please observe social distancing when leaving church. Exit will be via the Dukes door, the one by the grand piano, unless it is raining when it will be via the south aisle to the main entrance.   If weather conditions are favourable we would encourage social interaction after the service to happen outside the building.

Children and young people

The crèche area will be closed and there will no Sunday School or Next Generation activities. Children and young people should remain with their parents or guardians during the Service.  Please bring appropriate (non-noisy) toys for crèche age children. Activity packs will be available for older children.

The toilets are available in case of urgent need.If you do use the toilet please inform one of the sidesmen as it will need to cleaned.

The Crypt will remain closed
