BAPTISMS AT ST MARY'S WOBURN

It is a great joy to welcome people into God’s family and the family of the church in baptism (or a Christening as it is often known).

At St Mary’s we baptise babies, children and adults, as part of our regular 10:30am Sunday service.
We welcome enquiries for baptism from those who live in the parish or those who are regular worshippers at St Mary’s, and also from those who have a strong connection with St Mary’s, for example, those who were married here. Otherwise, we would encourage you to enquire about baptism at your local parish church. If you are unsure which parish you are in, you can find out using by entering your postcode at A Church Near You.

Bringing a child or baby for baptism, or asking for baptism as an adult means you are prepared to promise to bring the child up in the Christian faith, or if you are an adult, that you will be prepared to try and live a life following the Christian faith. During the service you will be asked to make some promises about this.

If you feel unable to make these promises, but still wish to come and say thank you for the birth of a child, we also provide a Service of Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child, which provides an opportunity to formally name the child, give thanks for the gift of them and celebrate their presence with us.
